Kolkata: A 20-year-old vegetable vendor was arrested Tuesday morning following a violent altercation at a local market that left another vendor injured, police said. The accused, Sk. Saidul of Rifle Range Road, allegedly attacked Md Abbas, another vendor, with a knife during a heated argument over trivial matters. The incident occurred at the market where both men operate their vegetable stalls.
"The suspect suddenly pulled out a knife and struck the victim's face during what began as a verbal dispute," said an officer of Karaya PS. "The weapon has been recovered, and the accused is in custody."
Abbas was immediately rushed to CNMCH, where he is currently receiving treatment for facial injuries. Hospital authorities described his condition as stable.
